Just got back not too long ago from Cathay.
Watched Lust, Caution with my mom and lyy. The R21 version of course!
But I must really credit Ang Lee. The film is very well-produced.
I love the locations where the scenes were shot. The portrayal of Hong Kong/ShangHai at that time period was very real.
And I really think the NC-16 version is stupid cuz the sexual scenes are so essential to the storyline and how it propels the plot forward.
Its not entirely about sex per se, but the expressions of the 2 characters, their emotions (or the lack of it in some moments), body language and sexual positions brings out lots of issues, mostly threading round the thin line of vulnerability vs power, dominance vs submission, pain vs pleasure, and how being silent for too long damages your ability to express yourself, amongst others.

Haha. Just some passing thoughts after watching the film and talking bout it with lyy. =)
